Mia Wasikowska Could Lead Oldboy

Though the thriller is based off a manga series and a 2003 film, it will include “new elements to it that will throw off the audience who have seen the original movie." Brolin will play a man who has been imprisoned for 15 years f0r reasons he doesn't understand. Upon his release, he looks for his prosecutor and the reason for his imprisonment, meeting a young woman (Wasikowska) along the way who helps him.

Mia Wasikowska has been offered the lead female role in Spike Lee‘s remake of Oldboy, opposite Josh Brolin.

Upon his release, he looks for his prosecutor and the reason for his imprisonment, meeting a young woman (Wasikowska) along the way who helps him.

I think Wasikowska is a strong actress who could bring a lot to the film, but I would have preferred The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo‘s Rooney Mara in the role. And I think once audiences see her in Dragon Tattoo, they’ll feel the same. Still, I’m not opposed to Wasikowska and hopefully she’ll end up accepting.

Who do you think would make a good addition to the film? Would you be happy with Wasikowska’s casting? Let us know in the comments.
