Dakota Johnson has criticized Hollywood’s current state during her appearance on the popular YouTube show “Hot Ones,” where she discussed various industry issues while tackling increasingly spicy wings with host Sean Evans. 452l2c

According to People, the 35-year-old actress, currently promoting her new film “Materialists,” expressed her concerns about the movie industry’s creative decision-making process and its reliance on remakes.

When asked about why Hollywood has become “so risk-averse,” Johnson didn’t mince words, stating that “it’s hard when creative decisions are made by committee, and it’s hard when creative decisions are made by people who don’t even really watch movies or know anything about them.” She added that “it’s all just a bit of a mess right now.”

The actress also addressed her recent experience with the superhero film “Madame Web,” which received negative reviews and earned her a Razzie Award for Worst Actress at the 2025 ceremony. The film also won Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay at the same event.

During her conversation with the Los Angeles Times in June, Johnson explained that the movie’s poor performance “wasn’t my fault.” She described how the project “started out as something and turned into something else,” and she was “just sort of along for the ride at that point.”

Johnson revealed her preference for having more creative control through her production company, TeaTime Pictures. She expressed that it’s “hard to be on some jobs where I don’t have input, creative input,” highlighting her desire to be more involved in the creative process.

The actress pointed out another significant issue affecting the industry: studios’ tendency to remake successful properties rather than taking risks on new content. She emphasized that audiences “want to feel new things, experience new things, see new things,” suggesting that the current approach might not align with viewer preferences.

The candid interview concluded with Johnson jokingly declaring that she “won’t be back” on “Hot Ones” after struggling through the spicy wing challenge, even stating earlier in the show that “today’s gonna be my last day.”

Sometimes friendship requires creative solutions.]]>
<![CDATA[

Dakota Johnson has itted to sending gorilla excrement to a friend’s ex-partner during her recent lie detector interview with Vanity Fair. The 35-year-old actress made this revelation in her second polygraph session with the publication, following her initial test six years ago.

According to People, during the questioning about her loyalty to friends, Johnson confirmed that she had indeed mailed “a gallon of gorilla s—” to someone who had broken her friend’s heart. When asked about the logistics of such an unusual delivery, the Madame Web star revealed that her preferred website for such purchases is S—Senders.com, noting that “you can order any kind, any size.” However, when the conversation turned to ordering public crabs online, Johnson quickly drew the line, stating, “No! Good Lord, I’m not a monster.”

The actress demonstrated her fierce loyalty to friends throughout the interview, even indicating she would provide a false alibi to law enforcement for her “lifelong” friend Riley Keough if necessary. While Johnson itted to the gorilla poop incident, she added that “it’s been quite a while. It’s been some years,” and expressed confidence that the recipient would not watch the interview.

Personal life updates and recent split from Chris Martin 124y52

The revelation comes amid news of Johnson’s recent separation from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 48, after nearly eight years together. The couple, who began dating in 2017, were reportedly engaged for “years” but never rushed into marriage.

Recent sightings of Johnson in New York City on June 2 and June 4 showed the actress without her engagement ring. The last public appearance of the couple together was in Malibu on May 16, followed by a sighting in India where they were photographed holding hands during Martin’s tour with Coldplay.

Sources close to the situation have described the split as definitive, with an insider telling PEOPLE, “It feels final this time.” Representatives for both stars have not responded to requests for comment on the separation.

Throughout her career, Johnson has maintained a notably private stance regarding her personal life. This discretion was evident in a 2018 Tatler interview where she briefly acknowledged her relationship with Martin, stating only that she was “very happy.” Her mother, actress Melanie Griffith, has also respected this privacy, despite expressing her iration for Martin at the Global Gift Foundation USA Women’s Empowerment Luncheon in May 2018.

Dakota Johnson and Coldplay lead Chris Martin have called it quits after 8 years of dating.

Chris Martin’s last high-profile breakup was with Goop-owner Gwyneth Paltrow, and together they famously coined the term “conscious uncoupling.” Johnson, though, comes off as someone who loves her privacy and would never just release a public statement about her private life. People, however, were still able to find a source who could confirm that the two are actually through.

The two have had an on-and-off relationship, but according to sources at People, this is not another off phase — rather, this is an actual definitive ending. In Aug. 2024, there were rumors that the two were done, and even earlier that very year, there were rumblings that the two’s relationship was rocky. But nothing was ever as conclusive as this latest report.

Dakota Johnson is currently on the press run promoting what looks like could be her biggest mainstream role yet: The Materialist. From all the trailers, and all the people involved — Chris Evans and our new Reed Richards, Pedro Pascal — it looks like a fun date night movie. Dakota Johnson seemingly could just focus on her career and things might pick up from there, but even that assumption is a little complicated.

Sources report that a mere two weeks ago, Johnson and Martin were spotted together. And even went on tour together this January. And also there was an earlier report that the two had been engaged. So it’s all complex, and it all suggests that maybe the two might actually not be completely over it for now.

The influx of sources surrounding their relationship didn’t stop fans from spinning their own stories, though. Some made a play on Coldplay’s hit to suggest that Johnson was the one who left Martin, saying, “Viva La Exit.” Others were hawk-eyed, reminding people that Johnson had just recently had dinner with the brand-new owner of all her masters, Taylor Swift — suggesting she really is the friend they all run to during a break-up.

Which probably is in reference to Zoë Kravitz having had a similar dinner with Swift just a few days into her break-up with Channing Tatum. Johnson and Martin cannot be having an easy break-up — Johnson has been on record stating how close she is to Martin’s kids and how she considers them one big blended family. So she needs all the she can get.

Dakota Johnson has been pretty furtive in her promotion of The Materialists. When you watch the trailer of the movie, by all means it plays out like a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy that invites audiences to expect a happy ending — but on the promotion run, Johnson has repeatedly been questioning why people think love has to last forever. And trying to rationalize the concept of divorces to… the audience? Herself perhaps? Yikes.

All-in-all, the Fifty Shades of Grey actor seems like she’s entering a second peak in her career. The movie looks like it’s gonna be great, she might even cement herself as a bankable star who can greenlight whichever project she wants. Even if she will no longer get to do it beside Chris Martin. You win some, you lose some.

Dakota Johnson finally speaks on her flop.]]>
<![CDATA[

Dakota Johnson’s starring role in Sony’s Madame Web has resulted in a major critical and commercial failure, potentially disrupting Sony’s plans for a Spider-Man universe spin-off series. The movie, which was meant to kick off a new line of superhero films, instead became the latest in a series of poorly performing superhero releases, leaving Sony executives reportedly discouraged.

As found by The Guardian, in an interview with Bustle, Johnson herself said she is not surprised by the film’s negative reception and suggested she is unlikely to take on a similar project in the future. Madame Web, a superhero movie intended to expand the Spider-Man universe, earned a harsh 12% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a clear sign of its overwhelmingly bad reviews.

Critics heavily criticized the film, with some calling it one of the worst comic book adaptations ever made. This harsh judgment matches its disappointing box office results. Despite an estimated production budget of $80 million, Madame Web only made $91 million worldwide, a major loss for the studio and a clear sign that audiences were not interested.

Even Dakota Johnson can see the issues with Madame Web 495p55

This weak performance has reportedly left Sony executives feeling doubtful about the future of their planned spin-off series. The studio had high expectations for Madame Web as a key project, but its failure has damaged their broader goals for the Spider-Man universe. The poor reception has raised serious doubts about whether future spin-off projects can succeed, leaving the studio’s immediate expansion plans unclear.

Johnson said, “I don’t make sense in that world. And I know that now. But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, Wait, what? But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.”

Johnson’s comments reflect the widespread disappointment surrounding the film. She acknowledged the negative reaction and said she understood the criticism, implying that the final version of the movie was very different from what she initially thought it would be. This raises concerns about how the film was made and the possible gap between the original vision and the end result.

She made it clear that she “probably will never do anything like it again,” but its hard to fault her when even Russell Crowe took shots at her. This reaction makes sense given the film’s poor performance and extremely negative reviews, and it highlights the risks and unpredictability of big-budget superhero movies.

The failure of Madame Web is also part of a larger trend affecting the superhero genre. Recent movies like Shazam 2, The Marvels, and The Flash have also faced bad reviews and weak box office numbers. However, there was a lot of controversy surrounding them. There’s even doubt that Tom Holland could return, so it’s not looking good for Sony.

The one time ‘Madame Web’ would’ve been the better choice.]]>
<![CDATA[

A good movie can make a lengthy plane ride go by nice and quickly, but the selection stage is vital. If you pick something too slow, it hardly helps the time at all, and if you select something too action-packed or intense, it will fail to impress on those tiny airplane screens.

A plane full of engers had that particular decision stolen from them on a flight from Sydney to Tokyo in early October. Technical difficulties prompted the flight attendants to switch-up the usual approach — which sees individual travelers make their own entertainment selections — with unexpected results.

Whatever the technical glitch that caused it, engers on flight QF59 were ultimately left with no choice but to watch an R-rated Dakota Johnson release from 2023. The flight initially tried to keep the force-fed film under wraps, but the Washington Post uncovered that engers watched a good chunk of Daddio, a flick starring Johnson alongside Academy Award-winner Sean Penn.

It’s far from the worst Johnson-led option out there — can you imagine if those poor kids had been subjected to 50 Shades of Gray? — but there’s more than enough racy content packed into the film’s hour and a half runtime to scar some small eyes.

Daddio follows Johnson, an unnamed woman, as she enters a Manhattan cab following a flight. She and the cab’s driver, played by Penn, soon get to chatting, and gradually make their way through a range of topics, including “past and present relationships, sex and power dynamics, loss, and vulnerability.”

That R-rating doesn’t sound so bad when its just in conversation, but IMDB notes that “language throughout” isn’t the only element that makes the film inappropriate. Daddio also sports “sexual material and brief graphic nudity,” which sure as sugar makes the film deeply inappropriate for young engers.

The flight crew selected the film after a technical glitch made individual entertainment selections impossible. To ensure that engers still had entertainment for their flights, the crew took requests for which movie should play across the plane, and it seems Daddio won out. Once they realized how inappropriate it was for the younger engers on the plane, however, the crew quickly rectified the situation, and replaced it with a kid-friendly flick.

The airline quickly issued an apology, noting that “the movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight, and we sincerely apologize to customers for this experience.” The airline went on to add that “all screens were changed to a family friendly movie for the rest of the flight, which is our standard practice for the rare cases where individual movie selection isn’t possible.”

And just like that, Qantas Airways accomplished the impossible. With one minor mistake, it managed something no one else on the planet has achieved so far: It made Madame Web the better viewing option. It’s insane, considering the film’s hilariously awful 11% Tomatometer score, but somehow, when faced with graphic sexting and full-frontal nudity, Qantas Airways discovered the one instance in which Madame Web would have been the Dakota Johnson movie of choice.

The actress blamed "internet culture" for the movie's failure, but her co-stars have been far less defensive. ]]>
<![CDATA[

Emma Roberts has come out in defence of Madame Web, despite the film’s lacklustre reception and the fact that she only appeared in it for all of three minutes.

The actress, who portrayed the character of Mary Parker in the superhero film, blamed online commentary and memes for the movie’s box office and critical failure in a recent interview with Variety“If it wasn’t for internet culture and everything being made into a joke, I think that the reception would’ve been different,” Roberts said, referring to the deluge of memes spawned by the film’s poor quality.

Among other criticisms, viewers made jokes about the plot of Madame Web and the deadpan line delivery of Dakota Johnson, who took on the lead role as the title character. Mentioning the online chatter that exploded upon the film’s release, Roberts said it “bums [her] out” that people “make such a joke out of everything now.”

The actress went on to say that she “personally really loved” Madame Web and commended her co-stars’ performances, adding that director S.J. Clarkson “did an amazing job.” Roberts also said there’s no way to predict whether a project will be successful.

Fans have quickly questioned why Roberts feels the need to defend the movie, especially since her co-stars have been critical of the film in various interviews. In March, Johnson said the movie — which failed to reach $100 million at the global box office and holds an 11 per cent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes — was a flop because audiences are “able to sniff out bulls–t.”

“You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms,” Johnson told Bustle. “It’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.” For her part, Sydney Sweeney — who played Julia Cornwall in Madame Web — said the movie was simply a “building block” to build connections with Sony.

Fans have noted how Roberts’ co-stars are far less interested in ing Madame Web than she seems to be, with one X asking why she is “doing more work to defend this movie than the people who were actually in [it].” Elsewhere, fans took umbrage with Roberts’ comments about internet culture affecting the movie’s failure, pointing to last year’s Barbenheimer trend as evidence of how meme-ifying movies can lead to their success.

Others questioned Roberts’ comments purely because of Madame Web’s poor quality, saying its failure had less to do with internet culture and more to do with the fact that “it was just bad.” One responded by simply saying they “fell asleep watching the movie.”

In any case, you could consider the online chatter around Madame Web as a form of success in itself, since other projects might wish for that level of buzz, regardless of whether its complimentary.

<![CDATA[

2024 is, hands down, shaping up to be the strangest, most mind-boggling year and a Marvel character racing to the Top 10 chart on streaming over at DC Universe is making sure it stays that way.

Even the most “I am not an MCU person” knows that the franchise has not been able to maintain a stellar record for years now as for every winning title (Loki), there are six others ready to drown out the rare victory. And as if maintaining the rapidly spiraling corners of its multiverse wasn’t enough, the studio had to bear the brunt of Sony Pictures’ bad decisions as well.

Madame Web and Dakota Johnson’s misunderstanding that starring as its titular character makes her a part of the MCU. Though, by some unexplainable miracle, this disastrous creation is somehow reversing its fate on streaming as you read this

In the days since the release and accelerated decline of the film, Johnson has criticized the experience of being a part of the film. Yes, the story is beyond disappointing, the dialogues make you want to pour melting glass into your ears, and it doesn’t even as a parody – a feat Thor: Love and Thunder managed to nab – but the lifeless and expressionless acting of the Fifty Shades Grey star? That’s completely on the actress, no matter how much she complains.

Obviously, those at Sony and by extension, the MCU, were not thrilled with the relentless airing of her grievances, which recently prompted Russell Crowe – Thor 4’s Zeus, the most powerful Greek god with a weird accent who was hilariously defeated with insulting ease — to spectacularly roast Johnson for grumbling about Madame Web.

But, in the end, the unwanted Spider-Man spin-off is finally tasting the success it failed to grasp at the box office as well as on Netflix where it momentarily spiked only to lose the momentum just as quickly.

As of now, Madame Web is also languishing on HBO Max, home to the box office flop The Flash and other DCEU (and future DCU titles), and steadily climbing the top 10 chart (per Flix Patrol). At this very moment, it rests on the third position, just one rank away from the #1 currently occupied by Dune: Part Two, which is already reeling from its double defeat.

While MCU films call Disney Plus their home, the studio’s t ventures with Sony and the latter’s solo (mis)adventures mostly make themselves comfortable over at Netflix. But clearly, Sony is desperate to turn Madame Web’s failure into a barely-there success and as long as it grabs onto its current rank with both hands, there is a chance that maybe, just maybe, even though there will probably never be a Madame Web 2, it will at least just live life as a box office flop.

What could possibly be dominating the Netflix charts now?]]>
<![CDATA[

What an absolute saga the existence of Madame Web has been — it shattered many an already-flimsy trust in Hollywood, it was through its animus that we disrespected Shrek, it demonstrated our severe lack of proficiency in choosing which Sydney Sweeney movie to watch, and it got its comeuppance at the hands of one of Netflix’s worst original movies.

Indeed, this has been an utterly sadistic cinematic affair. Luckily, it’s an affair that’s come to an end; according to FlixPatrol’s Top 10 Netflix movie rankings for the United States, the bizarro crown jewel of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has scuttled off into the obscure haze of 11th place-and-lower. But don’t think you can breathe easy just yet folks.

Why? Because if you wait long enough for the dust to settle, it will dawn on you that Dakota Johnson is not yet satisfied with the havoc she’s wreaked with her most infamous projects, because the one and only Fifty Shades of Grey, in all its problematic pseudo-eminence, is sitting neatly at the top of that very same chart.

Johnson, of course, starred as Anastasia Steele in the dire erotica adaptation that somehow fooled everyone enough to enter trilogy territory, and while many critics at the time noted her performance as a low point, it’s clear now that Johnson is operating on a level that’s entirely worthy of all of our respect. Specifically, she seems willing to put in as much effort as the script deserves, considering what we’ve seen of her in Fifty Shades and now Madame Web.

Indeed, the actress really goes above and beyond when it comes to criticizing the Hollywood landscape, with her frank, outspoken nature gelling quite nicely with her refusal to give non-creativity any real attention. Hats off to you, Johnson!

Shots - or lightning bolts - fired. ]]>

No superhero movie star has outwardly disliked their own Marvel movie as much as Dakota Johnson does Madame Web. Not only did she make jokes at its expense on SNL, not only did she seem confused about what universe it was even set in, but the actress has itted that she felt it was a poor excuse for a film, describing it as art “made by committee.”

Honestly, many comic book cinema actors can probably relate or sympathize with Johnson’s comments in some way… but not Russell Crowe. A veteran of virtually every superhero cinematic universe out there at this point, the man from Man of Steel, Thor: Love and Thunder, and soon to be Kraven the Hunter was asked about his thoughts on Johnson’s comments in an interview with GQ… and he elected to use his Zeus powers to roast her with a lightning bolt.

“You’re telling me you signed up for a Marvel movie, and some f***ing universe for cartoon characters… and you didn’t get enough pathos"> this December’s Kraven, which honestly doesn’t look to be that much better in of quality from Madame Web, so their experiences may match up closer than we know. Still, even if he secretly didn’t love making the movie (although maybe he did!), Crowe clearly isn’t about to crow about it.

For a few short days, Dakota Johnson was the Queen of Max. Her 2022 comedy-drama Am I OK? topped the charts of the streaming giant but has now been knocked from its crown thanks to an altogether sandier proposition led by Timothée Chalamet,

We’re talking Zendaya, we’re talking Josh Brolin, we’re talking a whole lot of giant worms and spice-based goodness. Yup, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two has knocked Madame Web herself down to the second spot.

Let’s face it, this is hardly surprising given the rapturous critical and audience reaction to the sci-fi sequel, which seems destined to go down as one of 2024’s best movies. So, just as Paul Atreides has reconquered Arrakis, Timothée Chalamet has done the same on Max.

The rest of the top 10 comprises newer films like Trolls Band Together, The Exorcist: Believer, and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Part One, which currently sit in third, fourth, and fifth places, respectively.

It’s possible the Dune franchise’s chart dominance on Max is here to stay. Later this year we’ll get the original series Dune: Prophecy, which Warner Bros. is hoping will be the sci-fi counterpart to Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. The show is set 10,000 years before House Atreides arrived on Arrakis and tells the story of Valya and Tula Harkonnen, who establish the sect known as Bene Gesserit.

More on that as we hear it, but for now let’s just raise a glass of hallucinogenic worm juice to Timothée Chalamet. Here’s hoping the whole galactic jihad thing works out for him.

Was the ‘Madame Web’ script written using AI? 1y4y4 https://wegotthiscovered.cracksfree.org/movies/was-the-madame-web-script-written-using-ai/ https://wegotthiscovered.cracksfree.org/movies/was-the-madame-web-script-written-using-ai/#respond <![CDATA[Christian Bone]]> Tue, 05 Mar 2024 19:37:30 +0000 <![CDATA[Marvel]]> <![CDATA[Movies]]> <![CDATA[Dakota Johnson]]> <![CDATA[Madame Web]]> https://wegotthiscovered.cracksfree.org/?p=1668440 <![CDATA[

Madame Web may be an even bigger critical and financial disaster than Morbius, but let’s give it something: At least it’s not boring.

While it was hard to anything that happened in, say, Aquaman 2 — and other mediocre superhero movies of that ilk — five minutes after seeing it, the sheer mind-numbing oddness of Sony’s deranged attempt to ignite a franchise lingers in the memory, whether you want it to or not. We’ve seen endless comic book films, and yet no others feature Dakota Johnson yelling at Ebeneezer Scrooge, editing choices that could come from Willy Wonka’s nightmare boat ride, and Pepsi product placement so blatant it literally kills a guy.

Many are deriving an unexpected sense of pleasure from this ultimate example of a so-bad-it’s-good movie as it’s hard to imagine that what we’ve ended up with was ever conceived by human minds. That’s why folks are becoming intrigued by Johnson’s repeated use of AI when talking about Madame Web. Coincidence? The internet thinks not…

What has Dakota Johnson said about Madame Web and AI? 41703q

Everyone pull your best “pretend to be shocked” face as Johnson has confirmed she has no interest in doing a Madame Web sequel. The actress revealed in an interview with Bustle that making the Sony production was “definitely an experience” but that she will “probably will never do anything like it again because I don’t make sense in that world.”

Well, as Johnson’s total disinterest in the property is evident in every frame of her performance, this isn’t exactly a bombshell. What’s more fascinating for many is what she told Bustle after this comment. Explaining her thoughts on why these type of films are failing, Johnson continued:

“You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms. My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they’re not. Audiences will always be able to sniff out bullsh*t. Even if films start to be made with AI, humans aren’t going to f*cking want to see those.”

Needless to say, that last sentence has just ignited a new conspiracy theory: That Madame Web may actually have been written using AI, and that was Johnson’s secret way of spilling the beans.

And it wouldn’t be the first time either. when Johnson slipped in another line about Madame Web and AI during her SNL opening monologue?

Madame Web is like “if AI created your boyfriend’s favorite movie,” according to Johnson’s quip. Well, that does sound like something a Hollywood studio would be eager to do, doesn’t it? But Madame Web couldn’t actually have been written by AI… Could it?

Honestly… no. On the one hand, it may seem like the words spoken by the unfortunate cast of Madame Web could not possibly have been dreamed up by a human mind. I mean, you don’t need to look hard for Exhibit A: The infamous “He was in the Amazon with my mom when she was researching spiders just before she died” line. Look at that hideous sentence structure and try and tell me that isn’t the first sign of the robot uprising.

And yet, it’s important to note that Madame Web doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Its bizarre dialogue starts to make a lot more sense when you it comes from the same screenwriters, Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who wrote the equally batty Morbius. Not to throw the pair entirely under the bus, though, as Claire Parker and director S.J. Clarkson are also credited on the film, so it seems they wrote the final version of the script, which is believed to have changed right the way through production (as virtually all of Ezekiel Sims’ lines being dubbed can attest to).

All in all, blaming Madame Web‘s sins on AI is the easy way out. This one is a human crime and we must accept that and learn from it if we’re to make sure nothing like it ever happens again.

Will there be a ‘Madame Web 2?’ 1v392u https://wegotthiscovered.cracksfree.org/movies/will-there-be-a-madame-web-2/ https://wegotthiscovered.cracksfree.org/movies/will-there-be-a-madame-web-2/#respond <![CDATA[Carolyn Jenkins]]> Mon, 26 Feb 2024 15:43:21 +0000 <![CDATA[Marvel]]> <![CDATA[Movies]]> <![CDATA[Dakota Johnson]]> <![CDATA[Madame Web]]> <![CDATA[Sony]]> <![CDATA[Spider-Man]]> https://wegotthiscovered.cracksfree.org/?p=1664723 <![CDATA[

Sony’s Spider-Man property, Madame Web, may not have lived up to the hype, but it has given us a gift nonetheless. Reactions from critics and fans alike have been universally united in one fact: Madame Web is not a good movie.

Never has there been an audience — particularly a comic book one — so aligned in their opinions about the odd film. Dakota Johnson stars as Cassandra Webb, a first responder who develops precognitive abilities after a near-death experience. This portrayal is vastly different from the comics. Madame Web is typically associated with the old and blind character that Spider-Man tussles with on occasion. Instead, Johnson was cast as a young version of Cassandra as she attempts to protect three girls, evidently destined to become Spider-Women.

Some of the film’s crimes include not showing the future superheroes get their powers, hokey dialogue, and over-the-top references to Peter Parker. Johnson herself noted to The Wrap that the script changed immensely, which could point to the onscreen issues. An MCU movie, this was not, throwing monumental doubt into the franchise’s future.

Bad press may impact many studios’ decisions to greenlight sequels, but Sony appears to be a completely different animal. For example, Venom’s dismal sequel is yielding fruit with a third film in the franchise.

There has been no confirmation if Madame Web will receive the same treatment yet, but Sony has surprised audiences in the past with its decisions. If Morbius being re-released in theaters is any indication, anything is possible. The production company has been capitalizing on tertiary Spider-Man characters for some time. Audiences still have Kraven the Hunter to look forward to, which had been delayed during the dual Hollywood strike.

But if there is one thing that Madame Web has that these other ventures do not, it is the press tour surrounding the film. Johnson has been transparent about her experience when making the film, in a most hilarious fashion. The actor seems to have no qualms with being honest about her experience on set, which makes for interesting interviews. She has itted to the massive changes in the script and the fact she has yet to see the movie herself. If a sequel would mean bringing the 50 Shades of Grey actor to the forefront, please make that happen, Sony.

Let’s face it though, given the rock-bottom reception of Madame Web, any sequel is extremely unlikely.
